The 5th Interamerican Leadership Training (ILT) was held from December 28, 2017 to January 3, 2018 in Quito, Ecuador.  ILT focuses on the teachings of Scout values and their role in Team Development, Project Planning, Servant Leadership and much more!  Other areas include Messengers of Peace (MoP) training and the completion of a mock MoP project.

Participants are trained in modules applicable beyond their Scouting careers while being emerged in rich intercultural exchange.

Our Scouts enjoyed one of the best Scouting experiences that the Region has to offer.

Belizean participants to the 5th ILT were Reese Medina from the 27th Cayo Santa Elena Jaguar Scout Group and Aaron Pook from the 28th Belize Ebenezer Scout Group.  Reese and Aaron represented us well and assisted their teams with the creation of mock MoP Projects that we hope to see in the next few months implemented in Belize.

Queen’s Scout and Venture Scout Commissioner Kesilyn Lizama who also attended the Course has served on the ILT staff for 4 consecutive years. This year she held the post of Assistant Course Director for Team Advisers.

This year the Course boasted a participant total of over 80 Scouts from 40+ representative National Scout Organizations (NSOs). Invited NSOs from outside the Interamerican Region included Japan, Poland, New Zealand, Jordan, Zimbabwe, Australia, and Uganda.

We are proud of our Scouts and they have served us well.
