In his opening message to the Assembly, the President of the Association Ramiro Duran welcomed everyone once again and in particular Sir Colville Young.  He cited that Sir Colville is a true Scout and that he was extremely happy that he could make it to this important meeting.

The minutes of the last meeting of the Assembly were read and moved for adoption followed by matters arising from the minutes.  Messages from the Chief Scout and President were read, followed by the program and training reports and the audited financial statements.  Once the reports were presented a motion to accept them was unanimously passed.

The highlights of the year in review was presented by National Scout Executive Hilberto Riverol who reported that the year 2009 was a very important year for Scouting in Belize as we hosted our first international event for Cub Scouts.  He also noted the slight increase of membership and emphasized that much more could be achieved if a more concentrated effort is made by each volunteer.  He also made reference to the financial report and noted that there was a decrease in donations, particularly in the Sustaining Membership Program.  This was, he said, because there was no Director of Support Services for the year in review.  Despite this, the Association managed to successfully conduct all its programs as scheduled.

Once the business side was completed, President Ramiro Duran announced that it was indeed a privilege and honor for him to present the President’s Award for Service to Sir Colville Young.  Sir Colville was presented with a medal and plaque in recognition of his unselfish and invaluable service to the Scout Movement in Belize.
