Scout Week was celebrated from February 16 - 22 this year commemorating the birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, the Founder of the Scout Movement.

In selecting the theme for this year’s Scout Week “Do A Good Turn Daily”   National Program Director Nephtali Palma remarked - “By doing a good turn daily, we will make our country a better place.  Let us work together to make Scout Week 2013 a success to show our community that there is hope for a better life” he concluded.

Scout Week was officially declared open on Saturday February 16 by Leonides Cuellar, Chief Scout of Belize.  His remarks on Scouting over the past 100 years and on the current situation on Scouting in Belize were aired on both radio and television.

On Sunday February 17, a joint Scouts and Guides Ecumenical Service was held at St. Martin De Porres Church.  We were honored with the presence of the Governor-General Sir Colville N. Young, who attended the Service as the Patron of Scouts in Belize.  Immediately following the Service a parade was held thru some of the main streets in Belize City ending at the Girl Guides Association located on Albert Street.  Refreshment and treats were served after the parade.

Other activities during Scout Week included community service projects, planting trees, cleaning up parks, visiting and entertaining the elderly among others, Uniform day, participating in radio and television morning shows, good turn day and campfires.
