Belize Sir Colville N. Young
The year 2011 is a very historic one for the Scout Movement in Belize as It marks 100 years since the first recorded Scout Troop was registered in 1911.
Scouting was founded by Robert Baden-Powell in the United Kingdom in 1907. The Scout Association of Belize has grown to be the largest youth organization in Belize serving both males and females. The National Scout Assembly heads the Association and the aim of the Association is to encourage the physical, mental and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society.
To commemorate this occasion, a Centenary Awards Banquet under the distinguished Patronage of the Governor-General, Sir Colville N. Young and Co Sponsored by the Belize Scout Endowment Foundation was held on Saturday, November 26 in the Majestic Ballroom of the Princess Hotel and Casino.
In Keeping with the Scout Promise, “To do my best, Love God, Serve my country, Work for peace and to be true to the Scout Law” the planning committee diligently worked to provide the attendees with a very exciting evening full of entertainment and information.
