The National Committee of The Scout Association of Belize held an award presentation ceremony on Monday May 22 at the Spiritual Light Center, St Catherine Academy. The Award the "Leopold (Poli) Balderamos Lifetime Achievement Scouting Award" was presented to His Excellency, Sir Colville N. Young, Governor-General of Belize.
The Award is for a high degree of initiative and outstanding devotion to duty of the most exceptional nature in private, professional, and Scouting life which is a true reflection of the life of Leopold (Poli) Balderamos who left behind a distinguished legacy of initiative in all he did: outstanding devotion to his family and friends alike, service to country and private organizations, commitment to his professional career, and service of the most exceptional nature to the Scout Movement.
Sir Colville N. Young who is the Patron of Scouts in Belize was selected as the fourth recipient to receive the award because of his untiring and unselfish dedication to his family, professional and Scouting life.
The Award was presented to the Governor-General by Phillip Balderamos, son of Leopold (Poli) Balderamos. Present were many members of the Young and Balderamos families, friends and Scout officials, Leaders and Scouts.
As part of the program, tributes to Sir Colville were read by both Young and Balderamos families, Scout officials and Scout Leaders.
The "Leopold (Poli) Balderamos Lifetime Achievement Scouting Award" was approved for incorporation in the Award Scheme for adult members of The Scout Association of Belize at a meeting of the National Committee held on Wednesday January 18, 2006.
