The annual parade and ceremony to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday was held on Monday May 22, 2017 at the MCC Grounds in Belize City.
Uniformed Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venture Scouts, and Queen’s Scouts Fernando Oliva and Lisa Gideon participated in this year’s ceremony and parade along with adult Leaders from 9th Belize St. Ignatius, 22nd Belize St. Luke, 28th Belize Ebenezer and 14th Belize Sandhill Pancotto Scout Groups.
Scouts started to assemble in front of the Princess Hotel and Casino around 7:30 a.m. and at precisely 8:10 a.m. the parade marched inside the MCC Grounds to form the Guard of Honor.
Special distinguished guests started to arrive immediately after the Guard of Honor was formed then His Excellency Sir Colville N. Young, Governor-General of Belize made his appearance and the Belize Defense Force band played the Belize National Anthem.
This was followed by the playing of, “GOD Save the Queen” while Her Majesty’s Flag was raised.
Immediately after, Sir Colville Young inspected the mounted Guard of Honor which included detachments from the Belize Defense Force, the Police Department, the Coast Guard, Scouts, Girl Guides, Police Cadet Corp the Belize Defense Force Cadets and the Belize Red Cross.
This was followed with the march-pass inside the MCC Grounds and the conclusion of the Parade as all participants exited the MCC Grounds to the tune of marching music.
The Scouts were then treated to refreshments before they were dismissed. A hearty thanks to all the Scouts, Leaders and parents who once again participated in the Queen’s Birthday Parade. A special thanks to our Director of Adults in Scouting Roberto Lopez who came from Corozal Town to participate in this year’s event.
This year’s parade saw the greatest number of uniform Scouts in attendance – CONGRATS!!! And a BIG THANK YOU to all the Leaders, Commissioners, Directors, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venture Scouts for participating.
