National Heroes and Benefactors Day 2017
March 6, 2017 was celebrated as National Heroes and Benefactors Day. In connection with the day of activities a wreath laying ceremony was held at the tomb of Baron Bliss, known as Belize's Greatest Benefactor.
Guest started arriving at 7:40 a.m. followed by the arrival of Mr. Joseph Waight, Esq., Secretary to the Baron Bliss Trust. Within minutes the Hon. Patrick Faber, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture arrived.
At precisely 7:58 His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Colville Young arrived and after the playing of the Belize National Anthem, the Governor-General proceeded with the inspection of the Guard of Honor mounted by the Belize Defense Force, Belize Police Force, Scouts, Girl Guides, Red Cross and the Police Youth Corp.
Wreaths were laid on the Tomb of Baron Bliss by Sir Colville Young, Hon. Patrick Faber and Joseph Waight. Closely followed by the reading of the Memorials to the Hon. Phillip Goldson, Rt. Hon. George Price and Baron Bliss.
Before his departure the Governor-General greeting the invited guests, followed by his departure.
