Remembrance Day

VETERANS WEEK AND MEMORIAL DAY 2008
Veterans
Week is being celebrated from November 5 through 12 this year.
In connection with the week of events, the Belize Ex-Services
League has launched its Poppy Appeal
to raise much needed funds that contributes in many ways towards
the League’s expenses, but more specific, towards the
transportation of the sick veterans, the burial of veterans,
purchase of medication and medical consultation when required
and other expenditures related to the administration of the
veterans’ welfare.
Also, in connection with the week of activities a Remembrance
Service will be held on ( confirmation) at the
Memorial Park in Belize City.
We at The Scout Association would like to support the Belize
Ex-Services League as follows:
1) By helping with their Poppy Appeal and we are asking each Scout
Unit in Belize to support this worthy cause by accepting and
distributing 40 Poppies among their members, friends and family for
a small contribution of $1.00 each. Members of the National
Committee have already committed to this cause. Proceeds are to be
turned in to Scout HQ by Friday November 9.
2) By attending the Remembrance Service, having members from your
Cub Pack, Scout or Venture Scout Unit attend the Service at the Memorial Park in Belize City.
In past years a limited number of Scouts
have attended the Remembrance Service but this year we would like to see
this change so we urge you to make every effort to have good
representation. Please wear your Poppy on
your uniform this day.
