More Scouts Better Citizens of Tomorrow.

The morning was cool but you could still sense heat building among the members of the newly founded Scout Unit in the City of Belmopan as they gathered for the official installation of the 28th Cayo Belmopan Garden City Scout Unit.

It was just around 9:30 a.m. that the parents and invited guests started arriving at the Garden City School.  Shortly after the Scout Headquarters crew also arrived.

With some delay but nevertheless with the same vigor and excitement that the Master of Ceremony announced the beginning of the official ceremony that would see the investiture of 15 new members as Scouts, adding to the over two thousand Scouts already in existence in over seventy active Scout Groups around the entire country of Belize.  And so it was that the Senior Patrol Leader marched the members Patrol by Patrol to the front of the gathering where they made their Scout Promise and pledged to live by this special code of living and the Scout Law.

The Scout promise says: I promise to do my best, to love GOD, serve my country and be true to the Scout Law.  Scout Leader for the Unit, Cirilio Chun, welcomed each member into the worldwide brotherhood of Scouting while the parents placed the Unit scarf on their loved one.  Scouting aims to develop young people into responsible individuals by participating in a wide range of educational outdoor activities guided by the principles imbued in the Promise and Law of Scouting.

Following the ceremony Scouts and guests alike were treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the staff of Garden City school.  The master of ceremony Patricia Sebastian, a Cub Scout Leader herself, thanked everyone for their involvement in making the event a success.  The 28th Cayo Belmopan Garden City Scout Unit is sponsored by Garden City Government School, Principal Mrs. Carolyn Bardalez.
