Thirteen adult volunteer Leaders from the Orange Walk District who recently joined Scouting participated in a one-day Information Course for new Leaders organized by District Scout Chairman Eutemio Miniz and conducted by the Capacity Building Team of The Scout Association of Belize.

The objective of the Course was to give the participants an overview of the Scout Movement and equip them with basic information needed to efficiently and effectively organize a Scout Unit.
 
The Course content is centered on the Educational Proposal of the Scout Movement, information on the history, structure and role of adult Leaders in the Scout Movement and in the organization.
 
The Mission of The Scout Association of Belize is “to contribute to the total development of young people through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law in order that they may take a constructive role in society.”

“Scouting is a non-formal educational Movement that provides through volunteer adult leadership, programs designed to be challenging, useful, rewarding and attractive, with the aim to instill a positive influence on the character of the participating young people."

The training was conducted at the San Jose Government School on Friday April 9, 2010 and was directed by Training Director Orlando Garcia. He was assisted by members of the Capacity Building Team, Ricardo Alcoser, Nephtali Palma, Randolph Johnson and Hilberto Riverol.
