THE CAYO MAYAN EXTRAVAGANZA 2010
 
The Cayo District Scout Assembly and District Scout Commissioner Abel Simpson cordially invite all Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venture Scouts and adult Leaders to the CAYO MAYAN EXTRAVAGANZA 2010 to be held in San Ignacio Town.
 
·         Date of Event:  May 8 & 9, 2010
 
·         Place:  Macal River Park
 
·         Cost to attend: $18.00 per participant
 
·         Transportation: To be arranged by Groups/Districts
 
·         Deadline for Registration: Friday April 30, 2010
 
·         Uniforms: Class B for Saturday and Class A for Sunday
  
·         Who can attend: 2010 registered members (300 participants anticipated)
 
Program:  An exciting program has been prepared for all Sections as follows:
 
Saturday May 8
 
7:30 a.m. - Registration
 
9:00 a.m. - Opening Ceremony
 
10:00 a.m. - Deployment to the different activities
 
  • Paddling the Macal River Rapids - Venture Scouts
 
  • Cave Exploration - Venture and Senior Scouts
 
  • Mayan Sites Expedition - Scouts & Cubs Scouts
 
5:00 p.m. - Fire Engine Water Splash - All
 
  • Night Cultural Entertainment & Mayan Dish Feast
 
 
Sunday May 9
 
Church Parade and Street Parade (to include local marching band(s)
 
Break Camp at 12:00 midday - Mini packed lunch for each participant
 
Additional important information:
  
·         Canoeing will be limited to the first 50 Venture/Senior Scouts to register
  
·         Designated camping areas are the Macal River Park and St. Andrew's Primary School
 
·         Bring sleeping gear and eating utensils i.e. plate, cup and KFS (knife, fork & spoon)
 
·         Equipment should include water sport dress i.e. swim trunks/shorts etc. (water splash)
 
·         Each Group is asked to prepare a 5 - 7 minute presentation for the Saturday night Cultural Evening (preferably with a Mayan flavor)
 
·         Scouts who register to attend and are not currently registered for 2010 will be required to pay the additional $5.00 annual registration fee.
