Fox Patrol affirming the Scout Promise In the month of April, Diego Grajalez visited some schools in the Louisiana area and Palmar Village to invite students between 11 and 15 years of age to join Scouting.
Parent placing Unit scarve on son This resulted in the reopening of the 1st Orange Walk Scout Unit. Diego started his meetings at the Nature Park in the same area with 4 prospective members.
After the first meeting the news spread and the students started coming to the place where they heard they could have fun and learn at the same time. One month later, the membership increased to 10 and as the members kept sharing their experience with their friends, the numbers kept increasing. On September 16, 2011, at the Queen Elizabeth Park, the Ministry of Education held their Students Rally in connection with the September 21st Independence Day celebrations at which time in front of the over two thousand students, the prospective members made the Scout Promise: Saluting at the playing of the national anthem I promise To do my best to Love God Serve my country, Work for peace And be true to the Scout Law
Immediately following the recital of the Promise, the new Scouts also reaffirmed to uphold the Scout Law of the worldwide brotherhood of Scouting:
A Scout is trustworthy A Scout is loyal A Scout is helpful to others A Scout shares with everyone A Scout is kind A Scout protects life and nature A Scout is organized and does nothing by halves A Scout takes life cheerfully A Scout takes care of his or her things and values work A Scout is clean in thought word and deed Newest members of the worldwide brotherhood of Scouts Scout Leader Diego Grajalez welcomed the 14 new members of the 1st Orange Walk Scout Unit to the worldwide brotherhood of Scouting as parents proudly placed the Unit scarf on their sons and National Scout Executive Hilberto Riverol and President of the Association Ramiro Duran placed the Membership badges on the Scouts.
Immediately following the investiture ceremony, President Duran delivered the keynote address at which time he congratulated the newest members of Scouting. He then spoke of his experience as a Scout Leader of the Progresso Village Scout Unit and of the need for more adult volunteer Leaders.
The new members of the 1st Orange Walk Scout Unit are:
John Carrillo, Jamir Gongora, Darren Spencer, Angel Copó, Vaughn Clarke, Luis Clarke, Obed Perez, Enrique Copó, Kevin Medina, Angel Baeza, Ryan Usher, Zadir Carrillo, Brandon Cowó, and Dale Chan.
