“Cub Scout Fun Weekend 2008”


The Belize District Scout Assembly is inviting all Cub Scouts and Leaders to the exciting “Cub Scout Fun Weekend 2008”. This event promises to be FUN and EDUCATIONAL.

When: 
This event will take place from May 31 to June 01, 2008 - two fun-filled days of Cubbing activities.
Venue: 
Camp Oakley, Burrell Boom.
Who can participate: 
All Cub Scouts and Leaders currently registered for 2008.
Registration: 
The registration fee is $15.00 per participant and deadline for registration is Friday, May 23, 2008.  Please register early, as no late registrations will be accepted after Friday May 23.  Registration forms along with the registration fees should be sent to the district treasurer, Cub Scout Leader Judith Reyes or through the national Scout office.

The registration fee will cover three meals - lunch and supper on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday morning, a packed lunch before departure time, program materials and a fun- filled weekend.


Transportation:  Transportation to and from Camp Oakley will be the responsibility of each participating Cub Scout Pack.


Accommodation: 
Participants are asked to bring along their own tents; a few cabañas will be available for participants without tents.

Arrival Time:  All Cub Packs should plan on arriving at Camp Oakley by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday May 31, 2008.  The opening ceremony will be at 10:30 am in Class B uniform.

Program of Activities
Saturday May 31, 2008

8:00 - 10:30     Arrival and Re-registration
10:30    Opening Ceremony
10:45   EDUCATIONAL TRAIL - Each Cub Six will hike in the woods near Camp Oakley and will be required to collect at least six different insects and leaves and at the end of the trail will be provided with a collector’s album and will have the chance to mount the 12 collected items for display.  Cub Scouts will also get the opportunity to see a Jabiru’s nest during the hike
12:00   Lunch
1:00     VISIT TO BELIZE-R-US RESORT - Cub Scouts will have the opportunity to use the facilities at the resort, including swimming in the pool (Cubs that have permission to swim)
3:00    Blind Trail and Kim’s - While on the blind journey trail, Cub Scouts will be challenged to identify as many objects by sight and smell during different stops
5:00   Personal Hygiene
6:00    Supper
7:00   Spider Hunt - Let’s hunt for spiders; to participate in the event you need to bring your flashlight
7:30   Red Flower (Campfire) Cubs will be taught 2 new Scout songs
     Small night snack
10:00     Lights out

6:00     All rise
7:30   Breakfast
8:00   Scouts Own
8:30   Cub Games (a morning full of fun games)
11:00   Clean-up campsite
12:00    D E P A R T U R E
