12th Gilwell Reunion (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

Plans are underway for the “12th Reunion of the 1st Gilwell Park Scout Group”, Camp Oakley is the venue and September 4 & 5 are the days designated for this unique celebration traditionally held during the first weekend of September.

Reunion 2010 will once again be unique since we are planning to initiate new members into the Gilwell Group and what an opportunity this will be to meet old friends and make new ones.  The Reunion will also serve as a means to be updated in what is new in training and for the first time use the opportunity to appoint members to the National Capacity Building Team.

WHAT TO BRING:  As is tradition, Gilwell members are asked to bring along an exhibition to be mounted in the open grounds at Camp Oakley.  This exhibition should include photos, knots display, badges display, scarves display, woggles display or any other items you may want to show off.  Everyone is asked to bring along giveaways no matter how small.  Also bring along any type of drink or snack you would like to share.

PROGRAM:  The exhibition will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  During the free period that follows, Gilwell members will prepare for the evening dinner, which will include a three-course meal specially prepared by Trainers and Assistant Leader Trainers.  Plans include attending church service in Burrell Boom on Sunday morning.

WOOD BADGE AWARDS:  Leaders who qualify for the Wood Badge Award will be notified before the event either by letter or telephone call.

TRANSPORTATION:  Each individual is responsible for his/her own transportation and should make every effort to arrive at Camp Oakley by 9:00 am on Saturday 4.  Participants can depart anytime after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Cost:  Each member is being asked to make a contribution of $25.00 to help defray the cost of the program materials and meals.

UNIFORM:  Class A and Class B uniforms will be worn during the weekend, so be sure to bring both.

Please pass this information to those who, whilst perhaps no longer fully active in the Movement, would enjoy the opportunity to return to a Gilwell Reunion.  You are asked to confirm your participation by Wednesday September 1 at 5:00 p.m. by calling or emailing the Scout Office at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. National Coastal and Riverways Clean-up 2010 (8:00 AM)

The Scout Association is coordinating for the nineteenth year the “National Coastal and Riverways Cleanup.”  This is in connection with the “International Coastal Cleanup” organized by Ocean Conservancy (OC) based in Washington, DC.  The campaign aims to create awareness of the importance of the preservation and conservation of our coastline and Riverways.

It is estimated that close to 1000 participants comprising students, youth organizations, conservation groups, NGO’s and Scouts all around Belize will join forces on Saturday September 25 to clean our coastal line, cayes and riverways of marine debris and other polluting agents that create life-threatening situations to our marine and human life.  More important though, is the recording of the kind and quantity of debris collected.  Once compiled, this information is used to confront polluters to work out amicable solutions to prevent further pollution.

The countrywide cleanup will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is expected to run to mid-day.  The close to 1000 expected Belize participants will be joining more than three quarters of a million people on the world’s coasts and waterways for the largest global volunteer land and underwater cleanup in 2010.

Materials for the event will be sent to all coordinators as soon as we receive confirmation of participation.

Any Organizations or individuals who wish to participate in this year’s coastal and riverways cleanup can contact us at Tel: 227-2168/0413 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for further information and to receive a cleanup package for their area.

You may also contact Ricardo Alcoser this years National Coordinator at tel:668-7425 or send him a text requesting information.
